Have you heard of a Lasting Power of Attorney?

Many of us have made Wills, perhaps prompted when we bought our first home, got married or had our first child. A Will is an incredibly important document to have in place as a safeguard – just in case! It brings peace of mind that if you have an accident, are hit while crossing the road tomorrow, that your family will be provided for.

However, what happens if you are crossing the road and get hit, but instead of dying you are seriously injured or incapacitated. What if you spend some time in hospital recovering. What happens to your family then? Who is able to step in?

Without a Lasting Power of Attorney, your spouse or partner cannot! You can lose access to bank accounts, fail to pay the mortgage, lose things you take for granted. Everyone should have a Lasting Power of Attorney – just in case!
